On September 18, the 1st AeroS Conference was held at the Can Calderon Auditorium in Viladecans under the title Building an Innovative Business Ecosystem to compete in the Aeronautical sector. The conference was opened by Carles Ruiz, mayor of Viladecans, Santiago Ballesté, president of AeroS, and Jaume Baró, secretary of Business and Competitiveness of the Department of Business and Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who highlighted the importance of building a robust aeronautical ecosystem to make Catalonia a benchmark in the sector.
The event brought together experts from large companies such as Airbus, Indra, GUTMAR and representatives of public institutions such as the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO), the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC).
During the day, the challenges and opportunities offered by the aeronautical sector for Catalan companies were addressed, especially those from sectors such as metal and automotive. Collaboration and financing strategies to boost Catalonia's competitiveness in this field were also discussed.
Throughout the day, the growth and expansion of the aeronautical sector was highlighted, since it is currently in a period of high demand and global expansion, especially with key companies such as Airbus. This sector is seen as strategic, intensive in research and development (R&D), and offers great business opportunities for both established companies and new ones seeking to diversify their activities. In addition, the importance of collaboration between companies, institutions and technology centres to promote innovation and overcome barriers to entry was highlighted. The need to develop a robust business ecosystem, aligned with sustainability and cybersecurity objectives, was also mentioned. Through intersectoral collaboration and the creation of strategic alliances, we must seek to accelerate innovation and growth in a highly profitable market with a significant economic impact.
The session provided a platform for networking and establishing new partnerships within a business ecosystem that seeks to strengthen the aeronautical supply chain, with a special emphasis on collaboration strategies between SMEs and large companies.
