PwC has prepared a comprehensive report for TEDAE on the economic and social impact of the Defense, Security, Aeronautics, and Space industries in Spain. This document examines the importance of these sectors in the national economy and their evolution in 2023, highlighting their role in job creation, R&D investment, and fiscal contribution.
Key findings from the report indicate that TEDAE industries recorded €13.9 billion in revenue, accounting for 2% of Spain’s total industrial turnover. Their GDP contribution was €19.7 billion, representing 1.3% of the national total. The report also emphasizes the growth of the aeronautics sector and its strong export orientation, with €8.26 billion in international sales. Innovation is another key focus, with €2.4 billion invested in R&D, making up 27% of Spain’s total industrial R&D investment.
The study further analyzes regional impact, showing that Madrid, Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Basque Country capture most of the value generated by these industries. It also explores future challenges and opportunities, as well as the strategic role these sectors play in security, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
